Write to Reel Q4 Mini Contest – FAQ

-

WritetoReelD05aR04aP01ZL-Madison4a****Entries now OPEN on the forums!

Hi all.

Okay, so the contest rules have been sorted out.

1.)What are the prizes?

We’re rewarding both the 1st and 2nd place winners.

1st Place – Script listing on InkTip, 4 month subscription to InkTip’s Preferred Newsletter, and a free 6 month subscription to Write to Reel’s forums.

2nd Place – Script listing on InkTip and a free 6 month subscription to Write to Reel’s forums.

2.) How many writers can enter?

10 entries total.

You read that right. It’s a mini contest after all.

3.) When can we enter?

Early entries will open on November 1, 2015 to forum subscribers, and everyone else a week after.

4.) Who can enter?

Anyone, from battle hardened forum regulars to novice screenwriters just stumbling onto the site, just remember, subscribers get first dibs.

5.) What will it cost?

$100. In addition to a 1 in 10 chance of winning, each script entered will also receive my detailed notes.

6.) Criteria for judging?

Marketability.

The end result of any screenwriting contest should be selling the script, if not getting it made.

That’s why we’ve decided to give out prizes that help market the winners, and not covering the entry fee into a larger contest.

We’re hoping to find lower budget stories that appeal to the largest number of companies.

This isn’t to say your big budget period script won’t win, just that it better knock my socks off. However, if you’ve written a contained script in a popular genre, that type of script appeals to more buyers.

7.) When will winners be announced?

It’s a 4th Quarter contest, so sometime before Christmas.

As stated previously, the first few months are a busy time for negotiating options on scripts. Whether it’s people making the resolution to be more productive, studios filling next year’s production slates, or both, script views and downloads are always higher during this period. Writers need to capitalize on that.

(This one depends on how long it takes me to read, review, and then judge 10 separate scripts.)

8.) What happens after I win?

In addition to a Skype session or two, yours truly will offer whatever assistance I can to maximize your script’s exposure, whether it’s crafting a catchy logline, or writing a synopsis that generates downloads.

Your success validates what we’re trying to do here, so you’ll win more than just a pat on the back.

9.) Additional Questions.

If you feel there’s something I didn’t cover here, feel free to reach out to me via email or our Contact Us form.

Other than that, best of luck, and stay tuned.

Write your asses off,

Hank
